I’m very excited to announce some very high-caliber industry speakers to our lineup of great programs.
  • Mr. Ed Walsh will be doing our presentation to kickoff the first day of the event.  Unless you’ve been quite busy the past few years (or asleep at the wheel), you may have noticed that Ed has sold 3 significant companies (Storwize to IBM, Virtual Iron to Oracle, and Avamar to EMC) and has made quite a name for himself.  He will be telling a few tales and taking some Q&A from the audience.  ”I have participated in past BDevents and have found that having a laser-focused, dedicated event specifically for executive networking is a great value to me,” said Mr. Walsh. “I look forward to sharing some management and business development strategies learned over the past few years.
  • On Tuesday afternoon (pre-cocktail reception), Mr. John Thompson will expound on his view of our technology world.  John is presently the CEO of Virtual Instruments, a VC-backed performance monitoring solution that is getting solid industry buzz.  John is also the Chairman of the Board for Symantec (as well as their long-time CEO from 1999 to 2009), and sits on the board of Seagate Technology and UPS (go brown).
  • Our final keynote (Wednesday afternoon) is by Mr. Ed Bugnion, VP and CTO for Cisco’s Server Access and Virtualization Group.  Ed is also the co-founder and former CTO of VMware, as well as a co-founder of Nuova Systems (acquired by Cisco).  Cisco is making a major play into the data center, virtualization, storage world so I expect this presentation to be well-attended, interactive and fun.

These are three major players in the technology space and should provide some great insight and value to our attendees.  Thank you gentlemen for taking time out of your busy schedules to join us !

We are very excited to announce our special VC program for the upcoming BDevent in January. The program and topics are designed for our executives to learn from and have access to some of the top VC firms and partners in the storage (and related) industry. Even if you and your company are not looking for VC funding right now, the importance of networking and creating new contacts cannot be overstated – especially for senior executives.

This VC program is included in your event registration fee (the VC speed dating session is for a maximum of 30 companies – a lottery will be used if more than 30 sign up)

The venture capital program provides an opportunity for executives from large and small companies to meet and network with some of the top venture capitalists in the technology industry. Specific programs include:

VC Workshop: Tips for Creating the Perfect Pitch, hosted by Charles Curran (Valhalla) and Jeffrey Lee (Mission Ventures)

Rookie versus Pro Presentation: Examples of good and bad VC pitches, presented by Charles Curran (Valhalla) and Peter Bell (Highland Capital)

VC Speed Dating: Five minutes with each of five participating VC firm partners, including:

  • Valhalla Partners, Charles Curran
  • Highland Capital Partners, Peter Bell
  • Intel Capital, John Mascarenas
  • Jafco Ventures, Jeb Miller
  • Lightspeed Venture Partners, Barry Eggers

Join the fun.

Thoughts about VMworld 2010

September 16, 2010

If you were at the VMworld show two weeks ago in San Francisco, then you know it was a great trade show.  Every exhibiting vendor I spoke to had very positive things to say about their experience and ROI.  Kudos to VMworld for having 17,000 registered attendees, in whatever fashion ( I was an “exhibit [...]
